Impact of Recorded Music on Society and Culture

Recorded Music Impact on Society and Culture

U2 and Tiesto
U2:
U2 are a rock band from Dublin, Ireland. The group consists of Bono (vocals and guitar), The Edge (guitar, keyboards and vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion).
The band formed in Dublin on 25 September 1976. 14 years old Larry Mullen, Jr., posted a notice on his school notice board in search of musicians for a new band. Mullen was on drums, Paul Hewson (Bono) on lead vocals, David Evans (The Edge) and his older brother Dik Evans on guitar, Adam Clayton, a friend of the Evans brothers on bass guitar, and Ivan McCormick and Peter Martin, two other friends of Mullen. Soon, they got their first name of the band. It was “Feedback”, because it was one of the few technical terms they knew. Then, they changed it to “The Hype”, and only in 1978 they became “U2”.
Tiesto:
Tiesto was born on January 17, 1969. He is a Dutch musician, DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. He has used many names in the past, he is best known for his work as DJ Tiësto. But his latest productions, he has dropped the "DJ" label and is now known as "Tiësto", which was his childhood nickname.
Tijs Michiel Verwest (Tiesto) was born in Breda, North Brabant, Netherlands on January 17, 1969. He had an interest in music since the age of 12. When he was fourteen he decided to dedicate more time to it and began DJing professionally at school parties. Then, he moved on to become a resident DJ between 1985 and 1994 at several clubs in the Netherlands after his manager and friend Wilfred encouraged him.
U2 represents rock music. They were not the first but they made it come into the world of popular music. Their early music style was influenced by dance music and alternative rock. Until 1987, U2 has been known for their live concerts, and only then, their recordings started to earn good money for them. Now, they have sold more than 150 million records. U2 is extremely popular right now all over the world because of their ability to play not like others. Larry Mullen was a basic drummer, but over the years to he became probably one of the best drummers in the world. The Edge is brilliant because of his guitar play, his guitar sound. Bono is creative with his tours and lyrics. Adam Clayton is a really good bass player. Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen remixed the Mission Impossible theme to bring it up to date.
Tiesto represents a dance and trance style of music. I think that, Tiesto is the #1 DJ in the world. Also, he was the first DJ to play live on stage at an Olympics in 2004. He was playing live at the opening ceremony of Olympic Games 2004 in Athens.
U2 is a popular rock band. They already recorded 12 studio albums, they won 22 Grammy Awards (this is more than any other band). Their music and lyrics mostly influenced by things happening around them.  Songs "Sunday Bloody Sunday", Silver and Gold and "Mothers of the Disappeared" were influenced by political troubles in North Ireland. The lyrics are mostly social and political commentary.
The Edge made a huge impact in a music world by playing guitar. The way he uses his effects is different from any other guitar player. His catchy solos will always catch attention of anyone who understands music.
Tiesto has 4 studio albums. His third album (Elements of Life, 2007) was #1 album in Dutch album chart, and won a Grammy Award in 2008. On January 6, 2005 Tiesto with many famous Dutch people did an outdoor fundraiser.  The event was free and all the money from commercials, broadcasting were sent for help people who was a victim of  2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami in Southern and Southeastern Asia.
Tiesto has an influence in clothing. His fashion designer Giorgio Armani has created a Tiesto T-shirt. They were selling them in Armani stores.
One of the best U2 songs is “Pride”. The song is about people, who do something in the name of Love. Bono was influenced by a book Let the Trumpet Sound: a Life of Martin Luther King, Jr. and a biography of Malcolm X.
Pride (In the Name of Love)
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One man come here to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love!
One man in the name of love
In the name of love!
What more? In the name of love!

One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resists
One man washed on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss

In the name of love!
What more in the name of love?
In the name of love!
What more? In the name of love!

...nobody like you...there's nobody like you...

Mmm...mmm...mmm...
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love!
What more in the name of love?
In the name of love!
What more in the name of love?
In the name of love!
What more in the name of love...
